Since I live in the periphery of Canada's heartland, I receive my printed copy of the Canadian Jewish News late. I have just read the November 6th issue (the November 13th issue is already out in Toronto). I however am impressed with some of the commentary in the earlier issue.
1. Lawrence Hart, based in Hamilton, Ontario, criticizes Hillel for its passivity against left-wing anti-Semitism on campus ("Conciliation hasn't worked"):

2. Gerald Steinberg is one of my favourite CJN columnists. Here, he argues that the current, left-wing accusations of "Israeli occupation" rejects Israel having the right to enjoy internationally-defensible borders, and as such this argument is "another form of anti-Semitism and racism" ("Double standards and other 'occupations'"):

3. The CJN also reports that York University, in effect, surrendered to the demands of anti-Semite David Noble -- after he petioned the university to stop observing Jewish holidays. This article explains how the university no longer observes the Jewish High Holidays ("York U ends Jewish holiday closing policy"):

The Canadian Jewish Congress has justifiably been criticized for kow-towing to left-wing, Muslim-based anti-Semitism. But such a timid attitude does not extend to the Canadian Jewish News. In Wikipedia, the article about the CJN claims that the newspaper reflects the opinions of the Canadian Jewish Congress. But in this case, that of Muslim based anti-Semitism, the weekly strikes out on a braver course.
I encourage CCD readers to bookmark the CJN site:

Better yet, why not subscriber to the paper edition? It is expensive, around $75 a year, but one would be financially supporting an anti-Islamist publication.
